This week in class we are going to be studying the planets. We will be learning the order of the planets and the names of the planets. We will also learn exciting information about each planet.
Did you know that the earth has a gravitational pull? In this first game make sure that you keep that in mind. Test your aiming skills!
This next web site has a great game to play. Have your child put the planets in order from the sun. Once the planets are in order, you can click on a planet to learn more interesting facts.
A matching game can be a great game for your child to learn important facts about the planets. See if they know their information. This one is great!

Inherited Traits
Dear Parents,
This week we are going to work on identifying inherited traits.
Students will learn about animals, plants, and even people. Check out this site. It is a soccer game that you can play. It asks you questions and if you get the question correct, then you have a chance to shoot the ball. Test your skills and your child's skills as well.
We will also be studying animal traits this week. At kids corner, you can challenge your child to see if they can place the correct trait with the correct animal.
Last thing, test your child's knowledge too see if they know the difference between inherited traits and learned traits. At this sight, you can see examples of learned and inherited traits and also quiz your knowledge.
Have Fun and I will post more exciting information.

Trash or Recycle?
Dear Parents,
This week, we are going learn how to take care of our earth and how to make good choices when it comes to cleaning up in science class.
In this first site, there is a game that you can play to see which piece of trash goes into which recycling container. It is a crane just like the one that your child likes to play at the store. Grab the bottle but make sure to make the right choice on where it belongs.
Let's clean up the park. Tell the elephant what material goes in what bin and see what your high score will be. Lets try to conserve the park!
This one is just for fun with your child. It's a word search. See if you can find all the words that have to do with recycling. This will also build your child's vocabulary while you have fun.
Cleaning up in science is very important and it doesn't have to be a task. It can be fun as well. So I will encourage fun ways for my students to clean up at the end of the day.

Food Chain
Dear Parents,
We are now learning about the food chain in science class. We are learning that all natural parts of the earth are part of a chain. Learning about the food chain is a part of our TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills)
Here are some Internet sights that you may find fun to help you interact with your child at home. So lets get started and play some games.
At the Eco Kids sight, you can play your own chain game. This sight can encourage you and your child to test your skills by putting the animals in the order that you think they go.
At Kids Corner, you and your child can start off easy and see how good you are. The more chains you get right, the harder the chains become.
The last sight is a different approach. There are different types of food chains. You and your child can play a game with animals in the water or you can practice with animals on the land.
I hope that you and your child have fun exploring these sights and I can't wait to see what they have learned when they come back to class!
